Johan Daenen is an accurate archivist of objects he met/discovered by coincidence. On a first level, the objects provide the raw material for his obsessive painting. He picks them from the most unexpected contexts, letting them inspire him to compose an entirely different world -- his own.
Daenen records these chance meetings with fragments of a material reality by means of a forceful plastic vocabulary -- making them the theme of his pictorial quast, re-shaping them in their stark essence.
